The Fizix shop

TM: When did you decide that t-shirts was your thing?

FZX: Since we were old enough to dress ourselves. The one constant in apparel is T-shirts.

TM: How long have you been in the apparel biz? And what have you learned?

FZX: We’ve been in the business for 3 years now. For most apparel companies, the t shirt is always the introduction of the brand. It is the best way to express your brands image and also the most economical compared to other categories such as hats, footwear, outerwear, etc. BUT because its so easy to get T-shirts printed, anyone can start a T-shirt company making it a very competitive industry. Most T-shirts suck, so there is so many of them out there that the good designers have to work that much harder to stand out.

TM: It seems like you sell both your own brand and t-shirts made by other companies. What are the advantages and disadvantages, if any, of conducting business this way?

FZX: The advantages of offering Fizix branded T-shirts is that we know exactly how limited and accessible those releases are. Our biggest competitive advantage for our product is the exclusivity. Knowing that we are the only place you can get Fizix shirts makes it that much more exclusive. Also the difference in profit margin is nothing to laugh at.

TM: What is the whole idea behind The Fizix brand/image? How did you come up with it?

FZX: The definition of Physics is the science of matter and energy and of interactions between the two. We believe that your sense of style and garment selection can be broken down to a science. A lot of our designs are influenced by science but we like to give it a tongue and cheek spin so its not too serious.

TM: What has been your best marketing vehicle for targeting your audience?

FZX: The internet is a wonderful thing. If you feel otherwise, your a dinosaur.

TM: You have a retail shop located in San Marcos, CA. How has opening a brick and mortar shop benefited you?

FZX: The brick and mortar location allows us to better interact with our customers and give the product the best presentation possible.

TM: What’s in the works for the future for Fizix?

FZX: Our future goals are to expand as a business with more locations and a thorough product line. Stay tuned!

TM: What tips could you give to others trying to get into the t-shirt biz?

FZX: Really work to make a niche for yourself. The most important thing next to quality is standing out from the rest of the pack.
