You just can’t hate on Stussy, no matter how hard you try. Especially if you’re a punkamation nerd, such as I, their Fall/Winter line is like some kind of Valhalla. Their Will Sweeney series for example takes me back to fresh Aeon episodes or being brain scrambled by the first ten minutes of Dead Leaves. The Brit illustrator is probably best known virally for The Parachute Ending by Birdy Nam Nam, a production a couple years back from French electro-rockers, Justice (See below). But believe me, Sweeney is not one to be pigeon-holed. His clients range from baby-grade electro rock on Yo Gabba Gabba to streetwear label Silas to Wired Magazine. Stussy’s interview of Sweeney post-minting reveals the inspiration for the line came from a combo platter of massive music consumption and the collection of African masks, shrunken heads and old-school weapons from the Pitt Rivers Museum in Oxford. All four rockers can be had at Stussy for $28 USD apiece.
